About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Quality Control (QC) Manager to lead and manage the Quality function of our manufacturing organization.
The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that products and processes meet customer specifications, engineering drawings, quality standards and company requirements. The role will involve managing Incoming Quality, In-Process Quality, Final Inspection, Supplier Quality, Customer Quality, Quality Documentation, Audits and Continuous Improvement.
The ideal candidate should have strong practical knowledge of casting, machining, fabrication, forging, welding, assembly and outsourced manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Control & Inspection
Manage incoming, in-process and final inspection activities.
Ensure inspection of products as per engineering drawings, specifications, control plans and customer requirements.
Review dimensional, visual, material and functional inspection requirements.
Ensure availability and proper usage of measuring instruments and gauges.
Monitor calibration of measuring and testing equipment.
Approve first-piece/first-off inspection and ensure process controls are followed.
Ensure proper documentation and traceability of inspection records.
2. Supplier Quality Management
Evaluate, audit and develop suppliers based on quality requirements.
Monitor supplier quality performance, rejection and PPM.
Coordinate with suppliers for corrective and preventive actions.
Conduct supplier process and quality audits.
Review supplier inspection reports, material test certificates and quality documents.
Ensure outsourced components meet specified quality requirements before acceptance and dispatch.
Work closely with the Supplier Development and Purchase teams to improve supplier performance.
3. Customer Quality Management
Handle customer complaints and quality-related issues.
Lead RCA, 5 Why, Fishbone, 8D and CAPA activities.
Ensure timely submission and closure of customer corrective actions.
Coordinate with customers regarding quality requirements, inspections and approvals.
Analyze customer complaints and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
Maintain strong customer quality performance.
4. Quality Management System (QMS)
Implement and maintain the company's ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.
Prepare and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, inspection formats and quality records.
Conduct internal quality audits and ensure timely closure of findings.
Support customer, supplier and certification audits.
Ensure proper control of drawings, documents and revisions.
Maintain quality-related records and documentation.
5. Process Quality & Continuous Improvement
Monitor manufacturing processes and identify potential quality risks.
Reduce rejection, rework, scrap and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using PDCA, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, Pareto and SPC.
Work closely with Production, Engineering, Purchase and Supplier Development teams.
Establish and monitor quality KPIs.
Identify recurring quality issues and implement permanent corrective actions.
6. Team Management
Lead and manage QC Engineers, Inspectors and Quality Technicians.
Allocate inspection responsibilities and monitor team performance.
Train employees on quality requirements, drawings, inspection methods and quality tools.
Develop a strong quality culture across the organization.
Ensure effective coordination between Quality, Production, Engineering and Purchase teams.
